Conference

Siena College
April 21, 2007

A week after a nor'easter dumped a foot of snow on New York, it was springtime at Siena. (The flag was at half staff, probably because of the deaths at Virginia Tech.)

Invited Address: "The Ladies of the Rings: A Tale of Science Non-fiction About Two Women and Their Magical Mathematics"
Georgia Benkart, University of Wisconsin at Madison

The address and lunch were both in the Marcelle Athletic Complex, in the same room.

Colgate contingent: Jon Cornfield, Dan Bosco, Kellen Myers, Prof. Lantz

Kellen's friend Sarah Vallélian, who visited Colgate in Fall '06, took the picture above. She gave a talk at the same time as Kellen.

Kellen spoke on his research with Prof. Robertson, "Off-Diagonal Rado Numbers":

Dan spoke on "Determinants in Wonderland" (a method of evaluating determinants by Charles Dodgson, "Lewis Carroll"):

Jon spoke on "The Leibniz formula for π":

It was springtime on the Siena quad, including the statue of St. Francis and the library.
