Starting up Mathematica on a NeXT or a Sun

Logging in

Your professor should have given you a login name, "math111" for example, and a password. When you sit down at a NeXT or Sun, it will be waiting for you to enter these at the relevant prompts. Don't worry if you get it wrong -- just try it again.

Starting up Mathematica

If you are using a math class account (math111, e.g.), the Mathematica icon should be clearly visible either at the top or far left of your screen. It looks like a complicated three-dimensional star, and is labeled "Mathematica". If you can't find this icon, ask your professor to reconfigure the account.

If you're using a NeXT (one of the black computers)


If you're using a Sun
