Periodic Drug Dose

Warren Weckesser

This web page allows you to plot the solution to the system in which a constant amount of a drug is administered periodically.

Let c(t) be the concentration of the drug in the bloodstream at time t. The concentration of the drug in the bloodstream is modeled by the first order differential equation

c'(t) = -rc,

where r > 0 is a constant that determines the rate at which the drug is cleared from the bloodstream.

Every h time units, a dose of the drug is administered, which causes the concentration to increase by b.

Enter the following data and then click on Show Solution below.

r =
h =
b =

Number of periods to plot: (Maximum is 100.)
